Gravel Bed Filter
Advanced filtration for modern emission control
Our Gravel Bed Filter (GBF) technology was developed from fundamental research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has been proven in more than 100 installations worldwide since 1980. Over decades of operation, the GBF has demonstrated exceptional reliability and performance across a wide range of industrial applications.
The GBF operates with a slowly moving bed of gravel positioned between two grounded louvers, through which particulate-laden gases flow horizontally. When high voltage is applied to a central electrode, particles become charged and are efficiently captured on the gravel surface.
GBF technology can be deployed as a standalone filtration system or integrated as a performance upgrade to existing electrostatic precipitators (ESPs). The High Efficiency Field (HEF) upgrade dramatically improves ESP collection efficiency, achieving up to a tenfold reduction in outlet dust emissions.
The HEF can be retrofitted within existing ESP casings, providing a cost-effective solution for meeting modern emission standards without major equipment replacement.
Applications:
Standalone filter or ESP upgrade
Biomass and coal-fired boilers
Wood chip dryers
Pulp & paper – black liquor recovery boilers
Chemical industry – incinerators
Cement industry – kilns and clinker coolers
Sugar industry – spent wash incinerators
Key Benefits:
Up to 10x reduction in outlet dust loading
Low cost vs alternatives
